Cheapest Handgun on CA roster

My friend recently told me that he had gotten a legal registered revolver for $80 not sure if it was new but dam 80 bucks aint bad. He lives in another state. This got me thinking what is the cheapest new gun we could get in California. Also whats the cheapest you have ever got one for?

"Legally registered"? What state is he in? Only a few states have any type of "registration".

To answer your question, you can get a new Highpoint, HA .22 revolver, etc. for under $150. Hell, if you look hard enough, you can probably find an unissued M1895 Nagant for $80 or less. I paid $59(?) for mine.

He is in North Carolina. Sorry he didn't say it was registered he said he had bought at a gun store I assumed it was registered. Thanks for the clarification.

The problem with buying such inexpensive weapons is that it only slightly lowers the total cost of ownership. When you are talking about a single range visit costing about $75 including lane fee and ammo then why would you purchase such an inexpensive gun unless you jut really want THAT gun and it JUST HAPPENS to be inexpensive.

Or you could be poor, trips to the range are rare, you live in a bad dangerous neighborhood, and you still want to be able to protect yourself. The second amendment doesn't just exist as a right for those who can afford moderately priced handguns. Otherwise it becomes a privilege for the rich or at least the middle class.

$75??? You need to learn to reload. I can spend an entire day at Angeles shooting 50BMGs and other centerfire rifles, shotguns and handgun for less than $75 including gas, sodas and a fire dog.

The range I go to charges $15 bucks for 50 reloads. 16 for brandname
