    Yup.

Every time a gun owner buys a Dremel, a gunsmith's kid goes to college!

The key to doing a good stippling job is the preparation. Taping off all the areas you don't want to touch will make a big difference compared to just free handing it. After you tape off the areas, use an x-acto knife to trim the taped curves and angles exactly how you want them. After it is all taped off exactly how you want it, then use a Dremel with the sanding drum to sand off unwanted finger grooves, factory stippling etc. After the contours are how you want them to be, then start with the melting with the soldering iron.

It takes quite a while to do a good job the way it should be done. I think most people just hurry through it and don't focus on the fine details that make a good stippling job stand out from the rest. I've taped off my Glocks and left them overnight to get a fresh look at it the next day before I even did anything to change the grip on it. Most of the guns I've stippled have taken hours of work to make them turn out good.

Prime example of form following function.
Form follows function always. If it looks all pretty and cutesy, but does nothing to enhance function, what good does it do?
