    Star Model B

I'm hoping to utilize some of the knowledgebase here regarding a pistol my dad has.

In 1971, my dad gave his father the money to buy a pistol for both of them to go shooting with. Seeing as my dad was 17 at the time, he had to buy it like this. Well many years later my grandfather is 10 years deceased and my dad still owns his pistol but no official transfer was ever made to him.

Since the Star Model B isn't on the CADOJ approved list and my grandpa is no longer with us, is it even possible to register such a pistol?

There is a way but there is no need to do anything.

Your Grandfather probably gave your Father this gun back in 1972 when he turned 18 years old. In 1972 the only thing you needed to do to sell or give a firearm to someone was the money and the belief that they could legally own it.

Tell your Father to enjoy his pistol.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Fill this out and send in the money: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/oplaw.pdf

HOWEVER they are going to do a backround check, so be absolutely sure that won't be a problem.

There is no law requiring you register

that weapon. The ONLY situations where it would be registered are:

          1. You bought and Dros'ed it as required thru a FFL.

          2. You just moved to this State and have to register all handguns (not rifles)
          within 60 days.

Owning that weapon, as you probably do is legal. It is not required to register that weapon. You can even SELL IT to someone (thru an FFL)
          and have no problems.

However, there is a form you can send in with $19. Be advised under
how you acquired the weapon to put: Gift from Father.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this pistol a C&R?

Everything is serialized, but I have no idea what the production date would've been.
