    1987 gun laws question

Hi CalGuns! Long time lurker, first time poster.

I was having a discussion with a friend about pre-ban gun laws and the following scenario came up. What was required back in 1987 paperwork-wise for a father to transfer handgun ownership to his 18 year old son. My understanding was back then paperless face to face inter-family transfers were legal but my friend is saying it would have needed to go through an FFL. Who is right (either of us?)?

    Thanks in advance,
    RuskieShooter
The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed - where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.

    Nothing
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Yes it is ok .But up to you.I would not worry the system is so messed up.My friend who is a retired Huntington Beach cop tried to check on himself one time about ten years said the system show he owned three .357 revolvers. He never bought any revolvers before.

The father had to hand the gun to the son and say, "here you go. it's yours."
