A particular model of glove depends on your hand size vs grip size. Some have padding (above) to compensate for small grips and large hands. If you have large framed guns like myself, I'd prefer just a "regular" thickness glove for protection against a hot Remington 700 barrel or keeping palm sweat from exposed steel. My color preference is all black, but that's hard to find.

Latex. I do get funny stares tho.
While we're here arguing about the latest high tech running shoes, there's some Kenyan out there running barefoot. Guess who's gonna win the marathon?

You can get black Nitrile gloves, cuts down on the stares.

I have a set of mountain bike gloves that I purchased at REI. They're very similar to the MECHANIX style but they're a tad bit thinner.

I only use them for shooting in the desert as it keeps my hands from getting chewed up after a day of shooting/moving gear around. It definitely helps with the cold but that's easier to deal with if you have proper insulating layers.

Mechanix gloves are pretty decent. For the everyday shooter, gloves are usually useless. But some circumstances require them. Not just the cold. Extreme heat also. I work overseas for the govt. and in those super hot places gloves are essential. If you can get away without them though, I would. Careful with NutnFancy. Some people love him, some people hate him, but sometimes he seems kinda suspect.

Check out Camelbak's Vent Grip gloves. They are extremely light weight and comfortable.
