You also didn't mention a price point, but if you're dedicated to .40 I imagine a CZ would be the way to go. Good and heavy (all steel vs. steel/aluminum in SIGs), and with a little work the trigger can be very nice.

    Alternately, get a .40 1911 or get a conversion for a more common 1911.
Then another horse PONY came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a huge sword. My kinda guy.

Like the Browning high power also, a 10 rd mag in the 1911 is something I might do for me for my bed side gun, I never thought about that

+1 to the CZ75 TS. I forget about that one.

I have a sig229 in .40 and wouldn't recommend it unless he has small girly hands, the 226 full size also is available in .40 and is much more of a hand-filler (no .40 is a handful, ha!). If you're ever in LA I'd be happy to let you shoot my 229 and you can see what I mean. If this is for CCW work at all then the 229 isn't a terrible choice, I carry mine a lot because of the smaller size.

Why not a 1911 (since he seems to love 1911s) with a Wilson 10rnd mag?

Or an XD with a trigger job. Once you get a decent trigger in them its a night and day differnce, since the XD design is single action already.

I love my Walther P99 QA in .40. The QA makes it feel like an SA all the time.
