CZ 75b SA is a good bet.

That said, although the CZ is single action, it's a hinged trigger vs. the straight pull of the 1911. If he's that particular about trigger pulls, that might make a difference.

              How about a 1911?
Then another horse PONY came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a huge sword. My kinda guy.

I would like him to have a .40 for several reasons, a full 10 rounds is one of them, my question is what other single semi autos are out there he can look at. That holds a full 10 rd. mag and has the single action type trigger of the 1911
Why not just buy some Chip 10rd mags ? I don't know what other reasons you want him to have .40 vs .45acp but that would be a solution to your 10rd issue..

Some of my other reason is:

.40 are cheaper to shoot than .45 and not the muzzle flip of a 9mm, we have several cal. Here and like the .40 the best.

                      Set up to reload .40
Have thousands of rounds of .40

There are other reasons but I feel this should do

They're not easy to come by, but I bet a Beretta 96 would be right up his alley. Failing that, a CZ would also be a good choice.

I have the Beretta PX4 but it's DA/SA and not SAO. Still, it's an awesome gun and handles the recoil of the .40S&W beautifully.

I would also echo the sentiment of just buying some 10 rounders for the 1911. I used them when I still had my Rock Island and loved them.

CZ 75 Tactical Sport in .40. He would love the single action trigger.
