I can't understand why people would by a .40 over 9mm when there's a 25% difference in cost and minimal difference ballistically. If one feels the need for something bigger just go straight to. 45acp.

The op was considering going from the. 40 to a 9mm. Just seems to be backsliding a bit

I just bought a full size M&P .40, picking it up this weekend...Turners is the place to go, good people and prices. Does anyone know of any rebates S&W is having right now? I know in the past they've had $50 rebate or 2 free magazines...I checked online and could not find ne thing...

I am def thinking about going with the 9 and then investing in a 45 in the future. I appreciate the feed back on the qweapon this is exactly what I was looking for.

Good news will be receiving my license tomorrow therefor I can begin paper work and background check. Any suggestions on ammo to buy for the first couple rounds.

also may sound like a dumb question but I would like to buy a separate pistol cleaning kit any suggestions and places to order online?

For ammo, here's a good start, otherwise head over to your local wallymart

For the cleaning kit, I bought one on sale at turners (I think $15?), one of the tetra value pro kits, pretty much everything you need.

I think S&W dropped the price on the M&Ps in lieu of the rebate that they used to offer. They probably figured that the lower price is a better incentive to buy than the rebate.

Not sure where you live but if there is a Walmart nearby, they basically have some of the best prices on .40 S&W in town. They have the Winchester bulk pack of a 100rnd 165gr at $28.98, Remington PMC 250rnds bulk pack 180gr at $69.98 and Federal 20rnd boxes 180gr at $14.98

You won't be disappointed with your 40. Keep an eye on Big-5 ads for ammo too. I've seen the Winchester 100 pack for 25 bucks , Have Fun.........

M&P .40 is one of my favorites. I also have a p229 but they are two different animals. Anyways mine is stock with 1200 rds or so and i can tell you the trigger does improve with use. With three different grip sizes I'm sure you will find one that fits you. I think you will be happy. I know I am and I see a m&p9c in my future. LOL.
