Custom Colt XSE Lightweight Commander Bobtail

So, last fall I had problems with a used Colt XSE Lightweight Commander with the finishing peeling off the frame. I posted a thread about it over on 1911forum.com and got in touch with Brent who works for Colt. I sent it back in to Colt to have some custom work done to it and let me just say it looks amazing now.

The only problem is that I want to go and shoot it tomorrow, but I don't have any thin grips that will fit it! Oh well, I'll either have to wait or just shoot it without grips. Just thought you guys might like to see it.

Also, if anyone knows of a good place to get thin bobtail grips so I can actually take this beauty out shooting, I'd appreciate the advice.

The slim bushings are there, they're just hard to see, 'cause they're...slim!

All of the custom work and shipping was less than $450. Really, it wasn't too bad, especially considering it was the Colt Custom Shop.

You could always steal the grips off the DW to shoot it, just don't overtighten the screws.

If you're orderring grips you might try http://raascogrips.com among other places like Sarge's grips and Esmerelda's grips.

I thought of that, but they didn't seem to fit on the slim bushings right, as though the slim bushing was too wide and I didn't want to force them onto it. Maybe I'll try it again.

@sky diver, I was in Turner's Corona today and they had a new CBOB for sale for like $1,650, but if you really want it you should get it now before someone else does!
