    Need advice about a 1911

I have a sprinfield 1911...nice pistol with a factory compensator.
Great gun, but not exactly a carry gun or home defense pistol.
I don't really know alot about the ins and outs of 1911's and their
    parts.
Is it possible to convert this to a non-compensator pistol buy simply
buying the appropriate parts...or is it gonna be a big gunsmithing chore?
    Thanks for any info

You could get a new slide and barrel for it. You will probably need to do a little fitting. Check out the ones from Sarco.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Sarco parts are questionable at best. Fitting a new slide, barrel and barrel bushing should be left to a person who knows what they are doing.

this is NOT GOOD ADVICE.. The barrel, slide, bushing need to be properly fitted. Not to mention the barrel link. It's not something you want to do on your own without experience.. I'm not talking dremel and sandpaper either..

Recommending Sarco is also extremely questionable..

Just a thought. Offer it up in trade for a 1911 that is in standard form.

I agree w above. I'm sure there are people who want a compensated version like yours and have a that would work better for hd or carry
