Have you tried any of the guns you listed? I had several picked out ahead of time and ended-up with something completely different after trying everything several times.
Believe me, after trying different guns you will get good and bad impressions of each.

If you want to spend little on ammo than you should go 9mm since you said you still want to have something for defense.

As far as what pistol??? What ever fits your hand the best and you feel comfortable with. My all time favorite is my Sig P226.

I've held the p99 and the Beretta but haven't even seen a fn five-seven, I don't have a range where a live n 4 gun shops. I'd like too try them out if I had the chance. But just going off info n reviews of each fire arm.

My brother has a sig p226 its nice. I got big hands so no tiny ones like the p22 I got the wife for me. I don't mind spending the extra on ammo if its worth it. The price just reflects on how much I get to take it out n practice with it.

I also looked into the FN 5.7. Almost conviced it was my next toy, I realized i did not like the idea of buying ammo for only one specific gun. Say I buy ammo in bulk, and something happens to my 5.7, then I have to replace it with the same thing or have a hard time selling the ammo.

Just didn't do it for me. Also with big hands, I'm a full framer myself. Don't like the compacts. S&W M&P is next for me.

That's is a good point I didn't think of it like that. I was also thinking of the m&p over the p99.

If the P226 "feels" good.... Go with her and never look back! P226 is an outstanding platform!

Am looking the the PX as well...Fits nice in the hand and apparently is pretty accurate. The FN is non standard round and that just becomes a potential headache. If you are looking at the Walther look at the M&P 9 and FN FNP-9.

Good luck but start by fondling them at a store and seeing if there are any places you can shoot them. If you are near me in NorCal or are near San Luis Obispo, you are more than welcome to shoot my FNP-9 just bring your own ammo.

Based off your 3 choices and the need for "kinda cheap ammo" you only have one choice - the Walther P99 in 9mm
                          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Ya the FN five-seven is a fun gun but ammo is not easy/cheap to come by. If u haven't felt the m&p 9 I say give it a shot. Its pretty darn awesome. Or if u want .40, there is the m&p 40 as well

I have looked at the PX4. I have not shot it though.

First, I think it looks nice. Second, the rotating barrel is intriguing. Third, the balance was off to me. Because of the polymer frame, it felt real back heavy. And that was empty. Load the weapon and I could only imagine how much more dramatic it would be. Those are some of my initial thoughts.

I definitely want to try it out. It could be a real nice gun. I have heard some complaints though about them being clean freaks. I have heard that if you get lint or other things in there it could be a big problem. And I am not talking excessively or neglectfully dirty. Just normal day at the range dirty.

But that is just hear say. So take it for what it is worth.

                              Good luck.
