The G22 is a full sized .40 and the P229 is a compact.

If you want to compare comparables then you should be looking at:

    G22 - P226
    G23 - P229

I am doing the same thing, getting my guard card and firearm permit. I had grand ideas on what I wanted to use and carry, but was shot down by a few phone calls. I have found that most security companies have a set handgun and/or caliber they want you to use. Before dropping any coin on anything check with whom ever you are going to work for first.

I'm seriously looking at the Glocks and most seriously at the SiG P229, I would however enjoy having a modern pistol cambered in 7.62x25 Tok, but with the research I've been doing I havent been able to find one, unless there is a conversion kit I can buy and throw that on a SiG or Glock. Then I could have the SiG or Glock pistol with the 7.62 Tok, that would make me scream with joy

Did you really just put a Taurus next to an HK and a Sig?

I voted Sig, but I would probably choose a Glock for a duty gun. It's all about ease of use in a crisis. Training can make up for any "deficiency" of a pistol's trigger method or percieved safety.

I am always looking for Beretta D models in 9mm or a Compact Type M.

I was just about to ask the same thing.

                      OP, don't go with a USP, go with a HK P30L 40SW.

Go with what you can handle. 45 is great but there's no use in carrying one if you can't shoot well with it.
