I am doing the same thing, getting my guard card and firearm permit. I had grand ideas on what I wanted to use and carry, but was shot down by a few phone calls. I have found that most security companies have a set handgun and/or caliber they want you to use. Before dropping any coin on anything check with whom ever you are going to work for first." I havent yet applied, before I do, I need have have all my certs, and licenses. If anyone in Sac knows info on security jobs and other info along the lines of this topic, I would love to sit down and chat with you.

I'm seriously looking at the Glocks and most seriously at the SiG P229, I would however enjoy having a modern pistol cambered in 7.62x25 Tok, but with the research I've been doing I havent been able to find one, unless there is a conversion kit I can buy and throw that on a SiG or Glock. Then I could have the SiG or Glock pistol with the 7.62 Tok, that would make me scream with joy

I voted Sig, but I would probably choose a Glock for a duty gun. It's all about ease of use in a crisis. Training can make up for any "deficiency" of a pistol's trigger method or percieved safety.sigpic
