Is the grip on the SP2022 the smallest available? Does sig make one smaller that can be purchased? Even though it's a single stacked mag, my index finger is barely able to reach it in DA.

I'd get a CZ before I got a polymer sig. If its a sig, its gotta be a steel frame. Other than that, I'm going CZ, XD, Glock or otherwise proven design in comparison. Too many problems and I don't like the fit at all.

The SP2022 comes with two backstraps. I believe one is small and one is medium. If you can't reach the trigger Sig does make a E2 version of the P226 which addresses this issue.

As someone already mentioned 2 grips come with the SP2022. Hold the weapon in your hand and see how it feels. Don't get it for the sake of a Sig. If you can't hold it right, you can't shoot it right.

sig also makes a short trigger for the sigpro as well.

I just looked up that E2 P226 & got waaaaay too excited. It would be perfect except the fact it's not CA kosher.

Be aware that the E2 grip puts you hand a lot lower on the gun than the regular grips
