    Glock questions..

Ok I'm looking at maybe picking up a Glock 21. I know each # glock is a different type/style of a glock.. But between all of the .45 ACP glocks I've seen like a 19.. 32 and the 21 I think all look just about the same to me.. And my local stores do not have All of the models for me to see personally side by side.

Im looking for a full sized .45 ACP Glock.

And also my buddy told me there is a new gun out there I think the Springfield XD .45 or something and thats now the new rough rugged glock killer game stopper in the $500 range.

I always thought Glocks were AK's of the handgun game and were top dog for $500 pistols.. Have times changed??

Yes I have Googled this but I havn't found much to answer exactly what I'm looking for.

I just want a nice .45 that will run no matter how hard I run it and will work for my Home defense weapon if the time ever comes.

The Glock 19 is not .45 ACP. The Glock 21 is the full size one you're looking for.

        Springfield XD45 Service

Those are the two you are describing.

            19 is a 9mm
            32 is a 357sig

            45acp's are the 21, 21sf, 30, 30sf and 36.

Glock is a good gun, and so is the XD. Both have different grips, even if they look similar. You should shoot them both and see which on you like. As far as the XD being the Glock killer, that remains to be seen.

If you're bent on a .45 there are a lot of options depending on what you're looking for. I'd say you might want to also check out a RIA 1911 and a Sig P220 to name a few.

XD is a glock killer or game stopper? Go to some competition shooting events and see how many people shoot glock and how many people shoot xd.

Alright so I am right with wanting to go with the glock 21 then.

and I just want to most reliable had gun I can get.. And I did a ton of research about a year and a half ago and came up with a glock 21. But I've heard some rumors and know times can change pretty quick..

So to make it simple am I safe and making a good choice of hand gun with the Glock 21?

Again sorry if this is one of those one a week asked questions.. Im a rifle guy and hate when these pop up in our section.
But I hit the seacrh and didnt see much.

No, you're safe in your decision. How can you be sure it's the right gun if you haven't shot one? Go to the range and rent one and see what you think. And then for comparison, rent a Sig P220 and then laugh at the trigger on the Glock.

If you want a reliable, cheap, easy to work on handgun, the Glock is it. However, they don't shoot well for everyone, and they're ugly. Personally, I wouldn't get hung up on the .45 round. I'd go to the range and rent several guns in different calibers until I found what I liked. If you want to make it fair, just go rent a Glock 17, 21, and 22 to start and see what feels good. Then you can expand on that caliber you like into different platforms.

                        the most reliable glock is the glock17. If I want a 45, I go for a 1911 or S&W m&p. So for me is a glock 9mm and 1911 45acp.

And what are you basing this on?

There's no facts or statistics that show any round is less reliable in the Glock or 1911 platform. My Glock 20 is just as reliable as my Glock 19.

I know the model numbers for Glock are kinda confusing to say the least. I totally agree with you that all Glocks look about the same The Glock family is black and blocky. But the G21 and the G20 are on the biggest frame. Its a hefty gun. The 19/22/23 is a smaller gun. The 26/27/33 even smaller. Looking at pictures doesn't help too much, having them in front of you and holding them is what you want to do. Case in point, the G29 sub compact is actually has a slide thats a little bit shorter and a little bit wider than a G19/23/32. But its a much heftier gun. You really don't understand that unless you can get your grubby mitts on 'em.

Also consider the G21 sf, basically almost the same gun with a slightly smaller grip on it. I would stay away from the G21sf with the ambidextrous magazine release models as they are problematic.

You may want to consider a G30/G30sf or G36 if you want a smaller model both are good choices.

I like to think that guns are like shoes, you need to find the one that fits you best. So I'd also consider: In that price range I would also recommend you check out the Springfield XD and the Smith and Wesson M&P models. Both are excellent choices. Good luck!

If you are looking to get only one gun, I'd recommend a midsize, as its for of a jack of all trades size. Don't get me wrong, my favorite Glock in my stable right now is a G21sf, but its really a big gun.
