The DOJ is at it again I see. My FFL called the DOJ and they said nothing about the ambi mag release and they said the GLOCK rail is approved.

I don't understand how the ambi mag release is a issue when they APPROVED the pistol and upon its release, the G21SF came with a ambi mag release (both rail versions)

Well, at least the DOJ is consistent at one thing....being inconsistent.

So does the non-ambi mag release model take the standard Glock 21 mags?

Others have stated, and Glock, Inc has verified (at least to me over the phone) that the California approved G21 SF-STD is the standard mag release (non-ambi) with the standard Glock rail. Only 3 G21SF versions have actually been "seen and purchased by web accounts", the ambi w/ Pic rail, ambi w/ Glock rail, and the non-ambi w/ Glock rail. Some have hoped for a non-ambi w/ a Pic rail, but no one on the net has actually seen one in person. Old and New G21/21SF mags should fit the non-ambi G21SF.

I still have yet to get a reply from the DOJ that states the facts in writing. Nor has my local dealer gotten any paperwork from DOJ stating these facts either.

I am not here to state either way, only hoping to get verified and documented proof, whatever the outcome.

So...I'm looking at getting a Glock 21SF (or the SIG P220 CPO)...looking for a shooter and not a safe queen so I figure Glock fits that bill so I'm leaning towards the 21SF.

So which version of the GLOCK 21SF is approved for CA?? Someone please tell me its with the amib mag release. (I am so use to using my index finger to drop the mag with my USP.)

Lastly...what the advantage of having a Pic rail vs. a Glock rail??? Will the Pic rail work with any light available now such as M3x or TLR-1??

Thanks all! This one has been a tough decision...Sig are so nice but more of a precision gun vs. Glocks are a workhorse...works no matter work. I saw that tread by Steve at ADCO...damn sold me

The approved model is the single sided mag release with glock rail.

The ambi release is not approved for civilian sales. If you really want an ambi release model, you'll need to find someone selling their personal collection.

If you're serious about a G21SF with ambi release, mine is for sale or trade for a like round count G35.

Not from LC Action unless you are a Police officer, they don't sell to the public.

Technically, since it's not approved, only people that can provide that they are exempt from the roster requirement can buy the Picatinny rail Ambi model unless from a PPT.

It's signicantly different than the original.

The way the laws are, we're lucky to have gotten any of the 21SF's at all.

It's only going to get worse going forward, so you might as well get used to dissappointment. Any handguns w/o the saftey features will never make it on the list.

Here's a quick pic of my 21SF with my 30 just to make you feel better.

How does the Glock 21SF compare to the XD-45? Are they about the same size? I dont like the normal Glock 21 as it feels like a holding a brick, whereas the XD-45 feels no bigger than my XD-9.

                              Nice pic

What did you get the ammo boxes? and what kind of HP are those?

By the way...why did glock put picatinny rails on the G21SF...what is the purpose, how is better / worse than the traditional glock rail??

                              Thanks.

I'm not an XD fan, so I can't really say. The SF feels much better in my hand than the original 21. best advise is to go find one and check it out for yourself.
