    ...from my cold dead hands...

    As the old adage goes,

" You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead hands..."

If (god forbid) you do go out in a blaze, what are they gonna find?

Let's keep it to handguns as we are in the handgun forum and feel free to post up what specific model!

Reminds me of the scene in Red Dawn where you see a dead guy with a gun in his hand laying on the street. Behind him is a truck with this bumper sticker on it. A commie soldier reaches down and literally peels the gun from his cold dead hand.

            Found these picures on IMFDB.org.

Sorry no pic of him pealing it out of his hands.

A little off topic, but MGM is working on a remake of Red Dawn (unless it already fell apart). I like the idea of getting to see an update version of this film, however unlike the Cold War with the Soviet Union we do not have the same realistic fear of going to war with the Chinese. So I am worried it will not get the resources need to be a great film. I am worried they are going to cheese it up.

A Chinese invasion certainly isn't real high on our list of concerns. Partly because despite there very large number of soldiers their military lags far behind ours with regards to its capabilities, party because China has limited its projection of force to its own region and has stated they will continue to do so, and partly because our two countries are so financially dependent on each other that if either of us started a war we would be biting the hand that feeds us. What made Red Dawn such a great film, is it played on our worst nightmare in way that we all believed was possible. The Russians were our mortal enemies. We hated them and we hated their ideals. These days American's are relatively indifferent to the Chinese. We're not crazy about their politics, but we do not want to nuke them off the face of the earth the first chance we get. So I don't see a remake having the same level of success. Perhaps that is why the cast is made up of relatively unknown actors and not huge stars like the original.

In any case, the original Red Dawn is one of my favorite films. So thanks for making me think of it. I'll probably end up watching it again this weekend thanks to your post.

I voted other. I will be using my Ruger P95, after my 12g runs out of ammo.

There is a blurb about it on the MGM website with no art, video clips, or details. There are fan sites dedicated to this potential film. An official poster has been released but might actually just be fan at. There are unofficial trailers, and some behind the sceens shots online that might mean it is actually in production but also could have been for some sort of trailer used to pitch the film to the studio but were not released because there is no officially released trailer out yet. IMDB says it has completed filming, but the lack of the usual marketing materials is odd unless they do not plan to release it. There are however lots of cheesy fan trailers on YouTube meant to tease people.

The only actor (actress) I recognized by name was Isabel Lucas who starred in The Pacific (2009), Daybreakers (2009) and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009). She is hard not notice.

Once I started reading the bios from some of the other actors I recognized their work. Chris Hemsworth played Kirk's father in Star Trek (2009), Adrianne Palicki was one of the stars of the hit TV show Friday Night Lights, Josh Hutcherson was just in an Academy Award nominated film The Kids Are Alright (2010) which I haven't seen yet, Jeffrey Dean Morgan starred in the Loosers (2010), Alyssa Diaz stars in the current show Lie to Me, this is going to be Tom Cruise's adopted son's first film, and the other actors all had a decent size roll in at least one big movie.

So maybe this film will be good after all?

                  Sorry for hijacking your thread!

Or more likely that its the most rugged and reliable weapon to have when you go out "in a blaze of glory" as the op put it

Does it have to be one? I will have one in each hand and one or two tucked away for back up.

Probably because the scenario is going out in a blaze of glory.. as much as I love revolvers (I did choose it just so you wouldn't be alone ), I have to admit if I was preparing for a s-storm - I'd pick a rugged semi over a revolver. That said, in any other scenario, I'd get rid of my more easily replaceable semis first if needed.
