Thoughts on Test Failure

What's on your thoughts on people failing the Handgun Safety Test. I witnessed a young 21-23 year old, wife-beater shirt, and pants barely hanging on his hip failed almost half the test.

The same as my feelings about people who fail the drivers test, the citizenship tests, and reatin, writin, an rithmatic tests in school. The next test for drivers licenses will consists of the examiner placing a banana and a toy matchbox car on a table. The applicant will be asked to point at the object that more closely resembles an automobile. The applicant will get 3 chances to pass. If he/she fails 3 times, he will be allowed to file an appeal and get a temporary license that is just as good as a real license. At least that's what they do to get out of high school these days.

One thing I noticed about the gun safety test is that you should not think very hard for the correct answer. One of the questions asked if the caliber for a semi-auto pistol is on the slide. I know that some semi guns have the caliber on the barrel and not the slide. I figured the people who wrote the test didn't know what they were taking about, so I picked yes and got it right. I got 100%. I didn't even have to read the booklet, but I did anyways just in case the state threw in something stupid.

Is gun ownership a right or a privilege?

Should we pay a fee and take a test to have the right to vote as well?

Some people need to be on that list...that test is easy, it clearly shows that he shouldn't be allowed near any firearm, or operate one.

that person may have the right to keep and bear arms, but he would be endangering our rights to life if he was allowed to exercise his 2A.

Exactly, for all we know the poor kid was going to sign up for a firearm safety class after he gets his gun.

Though I think people should be responsible in life, i.e. take firearm safety class(es) if they don't know how to opperate a firearm. I don't think the government should be playing parent and force us to do things like that.

Apparently he was convicted of stupidity by the court of public opinion. However, that is not grounds to take away one's rights since public opinion means very little, especially to me. That said, I do believe there should be a real test administered to people who wish to own a firearm and vote, like there is for getting a driver's license. I'd prefer it to be linked to intelligence however, so we can weed out those who appear intent on becoming the next winners of the Darwin Awards.

I've taken it twice and only missed one question(it was about intra family transfers). Never even studied either.

i gotta say the test sounds like as good of idea as having to take a test before you vote on the dutys and limits of government

I missed one question. It had to do with intra-family transfers, also.

I kind of resented the test at the time on general principles, but can't really argue that there shouldn't be one. I do think the content needs work. If I were making one up, I'd follow the discussions on the 2A forum and look for the most common questions, and include them at least.

As for the guy who fails, well, can't say he has my sympathy. It's not like the contents are secret.

i was embarrassed i got two questions wrong.

Well, I got 2 wrong because the questions were stated as "You may be committing a felony if". They should have put "If you got caught" as one of the answers.
