    AR Pistol reciever gift

    Hello everyone,

I used the search feature and found lots of information regarding how to assemble an AR pistol but can not seem to find answers for all my questions.

My main question is regarding receiving an AR lower for a pistol build from out of state as a gift from my father. Is that possible? I understand the issues with the single shot requirement and length, but do they apply to a transfer from an individual or just a store to an individual?

My second question (and final, I swear)....I am familiar with the process for inter-familiar transfers for residents but is it possible for my Dad to gift me a pistol (or AR lower) while I am out of state and me to bring it home or must it be shipped to my local FFL?

    Thank you very much

Theoretically the Intrafamilial, Interstate Transfer of a stripped pistol lower as a pistol should work. I've looked into it, but local FFLs haven't been keen on it quite yet (even Ft. Courage in Simi was iffy). You might need to have Dad make it a pistol first.

As for the "can he transfer it to me while I'm out of state" question. No can do. Since you are both residents of different states, you have to involve a FFL to complete the transaction.

Some FFLs aren't familiar with the gift transfer like Fate said. OC Armory is supposedly very familiar with the procedure. I'd definitely call ahead before.

I think the easiest way would be to have Pops send you a complete AR Pistol with a BB installed. Since it would be an intra-familiar transfer no need for the single shot but you still need the BB with a 10 round mag installed.
        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
