Remove the threaded barrel from the piece immediately.

Get a non-threaded barrel and install it, the pistol is legal.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

The father can use any high cap he owned before 2000.

No threads, no AW, no mag lock device.

Make sure that dad understands the difference between the registration process he went through at point of sale, and the additional registration process required for the 2000 law - the simple way to find out is ask him to show you the registration form that would have been returned by the state.

Ok I'm confused, Does he have to have the thread removed or not, it's RAW, like in it's registered with the DOJ, I saw the letter

Not it's RAW registered, I saw the paper myself, along with the sp89, and other RAW rifles, it's a letters sent from the DOJ

And as a RAW Pistol, with that letter from the CDOJ that actually NAMES the Mark23 and it's serial number with your DADs name at the top..then
NO PROBLEMS with the threaded barrel or mags.

Problem is, he can't gift it or hand it down to you in that form. But he can take it to the range and shoot it. And you can go with him. He can't lend it to you for the day; he has to be present when you shoot it.
