RIA tacticals are great too, and a good 200-300 dollars cheaper. they're probably equally proficient shooters, and both are solid products. the springfield is "nicer" because of the forged frame and depending on model, better quality internals.

fwiw i own a RIA GI and would not hesitate to buy another. but if i had ~$1000 to spend i'd get a loaded. then again, if you can save even more, 1200-ish gets you into used Dan Wesson or maybe even TRP territory.
That is not true, I own them both and both guns have the same MIM internals, I'm not saying it's bad, there is nothing wrong having MIM parts and yes for $900.00 to spend, I will definitely choose a Springfield Loaded.

cool. yeah wasn't sure at what point springfield went to forged internals, but like you i've never had a problem with MIM internals.

Although I love my G19 and G30 I could never get to liking the 2 G21sf's I owned.

I guess after the 2 1911's it just didnt compare. I just bought a M&P9. If that works out I may try an M&P45.

I own the RIA 1911A1 & Glock 21SF...My HD is my Glock. For some reason, the RIA 1911A1 doesn't load the first & 2nd round of my Hydra Shock, Winchester Silvertip, Corbon, or my Speer Gold Dot.....Runs fine with regular ball ammo though.

Heh, with commodity price inflation, it's a pretty decent investment, especially if Sacramento decides to draft a new ammo bill.

That's pretty strange. I haven't tried those ammos, but mine fed Winchester Ranger HXP (I think that's the type) just fine.

Springfield Armory "Loaded" as mentioned in above posts. Also, don't overlook the Smith & Wesson 1911's. They are a good value also. c good

I have a Kimber TLE/RL II and a Glock 21SF, and each gun is fun to shoot in its own way. The thing is, if you start going back & forth between the 2 guns at the range, the 1911 is obviously going to feel much better to shoot as time goes by. But if you're in a handgun course all day using the G21SF, it feels right at home and you don't feel any different about it.

Both a 1911 and Glock 21(SF) are great guns, but it's hard to decide between the two if you are going to shoot them back to back. You really need to take a 1911 out for a day and shoot it, and then take a Glock out on another day and shoot it (or any other .45 handgun). That way you have a fair assumption as to what you like better.

And likewise with the OP, I also ordered another 1000 rounds of .45 ACP before the ban was thrown out. However, I don't see it as a waste since the factory new CCI Blazer ammo I picked up was much cheaper than buying Federal .45 at Walmart. So in the long run, I'm stocked up and ready for more handgun courses this year.

I had 600+ rounds of .45ACP before I had my first handgun. This was during the Great Ammo Drought when ya grabbed what ya could. I knew what caliber I wanted before I decided on which gun.

I have some 50 rd boxes of FMJ target rounds I paid $35 for...

Same here. It's better with 7 rd mags from Wilson, Mecgar and Checkmate. Heavier springs & better followers. I gave up on the factory 8 rd ACT mag when it kept getting stuck in the well & jamming the first round. One time the bottom fell out when I was trying to get it unstuck & dumped magazine guts & ammo all over the line...
