    Glock 23 slam fire?

I just purchased a used glock 23 and used it at the range for the first time yesterday. The mag was loaded and with one pull of the trigger it fired two rounds. Thinking I made a mistake I tried it two more times and it did the same thing, fired two round with one pull of the trigger. Does anyone know what the problem may be? I found 'slam fire' when searching but don't know if its it our not, any help here would be great.

That is not slam fire. Take the gun completely apart (detail strip) and clean every thing Or let a glock armor take a look at it.

Does it fire once when the trigger is pulled to the rear, or are both discharges happening at this point? If you hold the trigger back after you press it, then, as you slowly and deliberately release pressure to reset the trigger, will it fire a second time during the reset?

Have an armorer look at it, the last thing you want is a discharge while out of battery.

Possibly dirty, possibly it has had a trigger job by someone with no knowledge.

No ammunition - Remove the mag.

Rack the slide, pull the trigger and hold it to the rear. Rack the slide again, don't be gentle. Did the gun hold cock or did it fire? If you are not sure if it fired just release the trigger and pull again.

If the gun is dirty it's an easy fix, if parts are needed they are relatively inexpensive.

check the sear and hammer hook to see if its rounded off. check your trigger disconnctor to see if a tab is broke off or warn down. check the sear spring to see if its install properly or does it provide sufficient force to keep the sear in place.

It might be the firing pin safety spring!

Hmm . . . Perhaps, the previous owner got carried a way with a trigger job and over polished the connector, trigger bar, and the firing pin safety . . . May have removed too much material. Just a guess.

Thanks for all advice, when I get home I will try the dry firing and see if it fits twice when releasing the trigger and racking the slide again. I have a glock 17 I'm going to compare it to although on that one I installed a 3.5 trigger. When I brought it home it was really clean, so I did a normal cleaning, but maybe it has build up or something in the slide, plan on completely stripping it tonight. I will post an update of how it goes, thanks again everyone and sorry for the typos, been some work typing all of this on my cell lol.

Sounds like the rear kickup on the trigger bar to striker lug interface is not enough, or someone rounded the edges over trying to polish it. Have a Glock armorer look at it, this amount of engagment is one of the checks we do. Glock makes trigger bars with a higher kickup if this engagment is not enough.

Hammer hook? You know what a Glock is, right?

Glocks don't have sears, or hammers, or hammer hooks, or sear springs. What the hell are you talking about?

OP, if your G23 is doubling, someone, probably some dumb *** who knows nothing about Glocks, like someone who thinks they might have a sear engagement, has screwed around with it. Take it to a Glock armorer, or put in a new STOCK trigger group and stock connector, stock trigger reset spring, stock striker and spring, and stock safety plunger and spring. Clean the striker bore and spot face while you are at it. Some aftermarket triggers have adjustable stops that limit forward and aft resets. They are really easy to screw up if then original installer thinks they are a sear and hammer group like a 1911 has!
