Given your parameters, I'd look hard at the Browning Buckmark Camper ($300). Great out of the box trigger pull, great ergos, great accuracy, and easier to takedown than the Ruger. And it won't break the bank, either.
Buy the Buckmark, Ultimate Cliploader, and a few bricks of ammo, and you're set for hours of shooting. It's fun, and if you do it right, it's a fantastic training tool as well.sigpicComment

All the above mentioned are great but you might want to go with the one that is not too finicky with ammo. The Walther P22 is great but it only likes CCI stinger,minimags and federal bulk.Comment

I have a Ruger Mark III 22/45 Hunter and blued model. They have both been great guns. The Hunter model is stainless with a fluted barrel and is a little more expensive. The blued model was under $300 total price and it's one of my favorites. Both guns are very accurate and easy to shoot. I changed the trigger group and did a few other modifications to mine and it makes the guns a lot better but they are still good in stock form as well. If you keep it stock you will not know what you are missing, unless you shoot a modified one.
Everyone who has shot my 22/45's has really enjoyed it and they are great for anyone to shoot, especially kids and beginners who don't want a lot of recoil in a gun. Whether you get a regular Mark III or Mark III 22/45, either will serve you well and be fun to shoot.Comment

I've been leaning towards the Ruger. It will go great with the rest of the Ruger collection. Is the mkIII Ruger picky about what kind of .22 u feed it? I know the sig and walther are kind of bratty in this category so I think I'm gonna stay away from them...sigpic ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕComment

Just got one a couple months ago and havent had any issues. The biggest thing I think people have an issue with is not doing the research on the types of rounds to use. Ive been told and found that as long as you use a round with over 1200 fps velocity then your fine. Ive used CCI stingers, mini-mags, thunderbolts, blazer and havent had any problems at all. Good luck with the search though.
PS. my father in law let me shoot his colt woodsman...great pistol!SO MANY GUNS....never enough money
