    Stocking up on AMMO!

I just made a kind of big online ammo puchase (well for me anyway) on both 5.56 and 9mm. I'm not taking any chances with this new ammo law raising its ugly head. I heard there is some type of last ditch effort going on the 18th to try and stop it from happening.

Being a new resident of California, this really sucks to walk into such a restrictive state. I guess I'll just have to adapt and overcome like Marines do!

I ordered from ammunitiontogo.com. They had a decent sale going on on the ammo I was looking for. Some guy at Wal-Mart told me that this new law will restrict people to buying no more than 50 rounds per month! Thankfully after reading some of the threads here I found out that part of the law got squashed.

I mean come on, I can go through 50 rounds in no time!

        For 5.56x45check out:

Hope it helps. I wish I was in a situation where I could purchase a bunch of ammo. Just went back to 40 hours a week and wife just went back to work after a 2 year job loss.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. My 2 cents.

50 rounds?!? Holy sh*t that's less than a half hour at the range.

            Glad that's out.

Hopefully, the "jack wagon" in Arizona won't hurt our cause. The competition for ammo on the net, was a good thing for California shooters. Now, we run the risk of being gouged by sellers when we purchase ammo.

Oh believe me I'm hurtin just as much as anybody else. Having to support a wife and 2 kids isn't cheep. I'm just using some of my income tax return on this. Just e-filed with turbo tax, should have the money in a couple weeks if the IRS is processing returns now. I heard somewhere a little while back that the IRS will be delayed until sometime in Feb to start processing due to their database needing to be updated or something. Hopefully that's still not the case.

As we say, "There's always one!". Been hearing from people that Arizona is a life saver for "aquiring" stuff. That would really suck if that route goes away.

Why the panic buying? Really no need. Get your c&r and coe or drive to arizona or vegas for cheap ammo prices.

I am so sick of the panic buying! It would be so nice to just go to Walmart on the way to the range to pick up a box or two and actually have it BE THERE!!

THEY ARE NOT GOING TO STOP SELLING AMMO!!! GET A GRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's it.... my ammo money is now going into reloading supplies

Sure... that is technically true, but as much as I like my local gun pusher shop, I don't like it enough to be routinely paying $35 - 40 a box for .45 acp for practice ammo or $50 for .44 mag when I need it.

Most of the Wally worlds surrounding my area have either stopped selling handgun ammo or all ammo weeks ago, rather than needing to put up with the additional red tape requirements.

It's a matter or economics, not so much panic buying I suspect.

I for one, really don't want to spend an entire day and $75 bucks or so in gas driving to Nevada every time I want to buy ammo in quantity for shooting CAS or a weekend in the boonies shooting with friends. So I'm stocking up.

Even if you do have a C&R FFL and COE to qualify for the exemption, most out of state sellers don't give a rat's behind and will no longer sell any ammo to CA period. So far the only exception to this that I've found is J&G Sales in Arizona.

CA Marine: Are you allowed to purchase ammo on-base, or at the military store, for personal use. I asked someone who was active in the army and they stated that they could purchase personal use ammo at the military store but that they could not keep it on the base. Does that sound familiar? Of course I am assuming that you are still active or live on the base. If you are not, or you don't, then I apologize.

i haven't bought more ammo than usual; i pick up 1 or 2 boxes of ammo every two weeks for hoarding purposes. i have focused more on handgun ammo the past few months. over time, the ammo has added up.

my biggest concern is government pressing further with it's efforts on oppressive gun related laws in california. my other concern on that matter is the latent effect of higher ammunition prices to us as a result of the new law. i'm disgusted with the whole thing.
