    First 1911 poll!

Ok i have been studying the 1911 for the past year now to the point im sick of not owning one....
This years tax return should be very nice so im finally going to pick one up. I don't want to go GI or Mil spec, i want it to work 100% right out of the box so i know exactly what a great 1911 is before i try to build one myself. (false logic?) This will also replace my XD for nightstand duty so i want hallowpoint rounds to fire without any FTF/FTE's of any kind, i understand GI and Mill specs would need work for this to work correctly. This is where im lost, i have NO idea of which one to get, or at least which one to buy first!
Im attaching a small poll of guns which i have thought would be good for me, please feel free to add any models that you think would suit me better.
    Price range $800-$1,400.

Just know 1911's were designed for ball ammo. All will need a break in of a few hundred rounds. Some more than others. My DW CBOB was hand fitted and tighter than.... you know what. I would not pull any 1911 right out of the box load it up with HP and leave it bed side. Without first firing at least 500 rounds downrange and making sure my SD ammo was feeding properly.
BTW my RIA GI and SA Champion Mil Spec eats everything I feed it. ball, HP, SWC... lol

        DW FTW

Oh yeah i understand the break in process of these guns, i wouldn't commission it to the nightstand without putting at least 500-1,000 rounds down range. It would suck to have an FTF/FTE with a home defense round it hasn't fed yet!

They're all good choices except maybe the Gold Cup
Personally I'd rather go with the XSE models They're more reasonable and a bit less finicky than a Gold Cup
IMHO the Gold Cup is a great target pistol but too tight for HD work.
                YMMV

i am a fan of springfield
That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. Dosen't show up on your airport X-ray machines, here, and it cost more than you make in a month.

My Dan Wesson Pointman has been flawless...accurate, reliable, fun to shoot. Eats everything I feed it (I did shoot 500 rounds of ball ammo before I tried HP's, but no problems!).

Lifetime warranty, and still one of the best values on the market.

Have yet to shoot one, but I like the S&W199PD. If not that, I would take the SA Operator.

Just made my purchase for the SA 1911 MC Operator. Feels good and shoots good! To the OP, I couldn't imagine waiting awhile to get one after shooting it for the first time so I "bit the bullet" and "pulled the trigger".

Para Ordinance, nothing fancy but in a free state I can cram 17 rounds of ACP in 1 mag. Shhhh.... Dont tell the brady bunch.

I had a colt 1911 in the military; it was ok. it was also well-worn.

I bought a SA 1911 Stainless Loaded after borrowing one. it felt right, has an amazing trigger, great feel, and lots of nice mods. Add the XS sights and it's perfect for IPSC/USPSA and self-defense.
