OK...so I saw the ads saying the Ruger LC9 will have a loaded chamber indicator, and possibly a mag disconnect. If they do will it still be able to go on the list without the "microstamping" firing pin? Will Ruger even bother...

Microstamping is not happening as far as I know. I think it will be on the list from what I've heard."You can get more with a kind word and a gun than you get with a kind word alone" Al Capone -
It seems that Ruger specificly made the gun to be CA compliant, so I expect it to show up on the roster soon.
Also, as far as I know, "microstamping" is effectivly dead, only one company can do it and, if I remember right, as long as only one company can provide the microstamping technology the requirement does not go into effect.Last edited by robcoe; 01-08-2011, 10:17 PM.Yes, I am an electrical engineer.

The Ruger LC9 appears to have a CA DOJ approved chamber load indicator. So, as long as it also has a magazine disconnect, then Ruger can submit it for testing to be placed on the approved list.Last edited by Quiet; 01-08-2011, 10:33 PM.sigpic

Kel Tec PF9 (not on list) Less expensive, lighter, 7+1
Kel Tec P11 (not on list) Less expensive, double stack 10+1, slightly heavier
Kahr CW9 Most likely comparable in price, very similar, 7+1, I'd prefer the
Kahr over the Ruger, but this is based on my opinions of my
Kahr P380 verses the Ruger LCP, no comparison in quality, but
Honestly the Kahr P380 is probably not worth the extra cost
Expensive alternatives
Kahr P9
Kahr PM9 (smaller)

✟ In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain."✟Comment
