My G35 KB'd

I just got back from a local match where on my second stage a case ruptured, blew my extractor out, and destroyed my mag. The gun is currently stuck with the slide locked back and case still in the chamber. LUCKILY my fingers are all still intact.

Here is my load:Missouri Bullet 170gr LSWC, 4.6gr Universal, Wolf SP Primers @ 1.15" OAL.

I did recently switch back to the stock barrel after some convincing it would be ok for lead, I'm not sure of thats the case or not. I had a few hundred monitored rounds through the stock barrel before taking it out to the match today. Pics and video to come!

I tell you it was scary after realizing what had happened! My first instinct is "oh CRAP a KB! Are my fingers gone!". I have some minor bruising on both hands, it felt like a golf club smacked my hands real good.

Most people watching didn't even know, I was shooting and people wondered why I had stopped.

You have to throw it after pulling the trigger, not cook it in your hands until it goes off!

My guess is that the lead build up in the barrel caused over pressure, hence Kb. Glock specifically states no lead bullets. What convinced you that someone else knows more that what the factory recommends?

Been using lead on my G24 & G22 stock barrel for a long time since 1994 for IPSC.
And had no problems. Glad you are ok.
Sounds like you had a double charged load.Or a small hole on the brass.

Same Exact thing happened to Bubbapugs Glock.... he had a kb and the cause of it was a small hole in the brass.

I do suspect the brass. Double charges tend to overflow the case with my powder charge/selection.

Its a pretty standard load, barely averaging hitting 167 pf.

Glad you're ok. If you're using a bulky powder then my money's on a bad case as well. I should really check my brass more closely. I shoot it until it spits. I bet I have 9mm that has been loaded well over 20 times. You can't even read the headstamp on some of it.

How many rounds did you have through it before the KB?
Does the load you were shooting lead your barrel usually. I think shooting lead in a factory barrel is fine, but you have to be careful to use the right size bullet and a slower powder to prevent leading.

Just make sure to inspect the brass closer next time.
I use a Dillon 550 that's why I have a habit of looking at the brass before depriming and resizing the brass.

Now that I shoot open my powder is all the way to the brim

If what you say is true and there was no chance of a double charge and you're sure the barrel was clean, then there is little chance of leading with such a low count.

I personally run bear creek bullets through my factory G23 barrel with no leading at all.
