    Custom 1911 grips! Please help!

A family member just got a 1911 rock island GI model and wanted to put on ivory grips. While looking around they found these http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct...sting-_-928185.

They loved the design and wanted them but we can see there discontinued. Does anyone know a similar design to this with a white base but black scroll/floral pattern?

      Interesting: http://cgi.ebay.com/MOTHER-PEARL-INL...item3a6190d98b

I actually like this second one. Nothing like the one you've shown, but Ebay has a whole lot of 1911 grips.

Cyc- Well if ivory can be had under 60 bucks, then yes he'd prefer the real deal. But I explained to him already real ivory gets very expensive.

Bombadillo- He loved the first set you posted made of pearl or titled pearl inlay! Its an awesome design, he's for some reason preferring ivory made though but along the lines of the design you chose or the first one I posted. He's wanting to spend 60 or less. The pewter colored/styled ones weren't his cup of tea.

Thank you guys thus far! What else do you guys have in mind?

Oh and I should have asked, would those mother of pearl grips fit his model? I really cant grasp all the different models like government, officer, commander and what not. His is the standard 5 inch barrel, 1911 plain jane model.

If you like the mother of pearl grips you should know they were made by a company called Dajim in Thailand. They have other models but it takes 15-21 business days for shipping.

Here's an exotic set I just ordered:

BTW you won't get ivory grips for $60. Most white/yellow grips are made from synthetics to look like ivory. They actually look and feel quite good.

Esmeralda is known for her cocobolo grips but she does do some ivorywood grips, too.

This seller had a pair of the grips you like a couple of months ago. Contact him and see if he has any more.
              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Not for nothin' but putting ivories or ivory look alikes on an RIA is like putting lipstick on a pig.

Lots of sources for what you're looking for, and the hated auction site might be your best bet.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

Yea I'm starting to think he sorta has to accept the few that people have posted thus far for a budget of 60 or less. And yea I know ivory aint my favorite color/material for that type of pistol but oh well!
