beretta 96 centurion not on roster?

I'm looking to trade in my Beretta on a new gun but the dealer says they can't take it becasue it's not on the roster of approved firearms for sale. I looked at the list and they are right, it's not specifically mentioned but there is the 96G Elite 1A / Steel , 96 Vertec Inox / Stainless Steel, Alloy , 96 Vertec (Black) / Steel, Stainless Steel, Alloy, 96G Elite II / Blue Steel, Stainless Steel, 96 / Steel, Alloy, 96 Black Inox / Stainless Steel, 96 Brigadier / Blue Steel, 96 Brigadier Inox / Stainless Steel, 96 Inox / Stainless Steel, and the 96G-SD / Stainless Steel, Steel, Alloy. That's 10 different versions of the 96 that are listed and they are all the same damn gun. WTF ! Does barrel length and the color of the finish really disqualify my gun?

each different finish and length is a different firearm on the roster. Stupid, but there it is.

PPT it and you won't have any issues.

"color" is one thing...but barrel length is a definite defining characteristic when it comes to what's "on the list" and what isn't. Does your dealer do consignments? If so they could take it in on consignment, sell it, and put the proceeds toward the new toy of your choice.

Ok, so please tell me there is already a lawsuit addressing this in the works. I can see the purpose of the roster, safe handguns are important. But I'm pretty sure the same gun wheather blued or stainless will have the same result when dropped. This is so obviously a way to bilk money from the firearms manufactures it's not even funny.

The fee is only a few thousand $ per gun so it's not like an amount of money that really makes a difference in the overall scheme of a state with a $88 Billion annual budget. I think that if they must do this then each receiver/action should be approved and not the superfluous features.
