    xd45 vs. xdm45?

    Hey Calguns,

I've had a chance to rent and shoot an xd 45 service 4" and really like this gun. It feels perfect in my hand. Is there a big difference between the xd and the xdm in.45? Is it worth the $100+ price difference? I have not been able to find a range with an xdm45 for rent and I have not had the chance to shoot the xd45 tactical 5" yet. Not sure which to buy at this point. Any advice?

You won't find a range with a XDM45 for rent, because they are not on the approved list.
Since, they are not on the approved list, the XDM45 will sell for more than MSRP in CA. So, add another $200-400 to the price for the CA mark up for non-approved listed handguns.

biggest difference and the one that only matters is one is on the CA approved roster and the other isn't.

Pro in fresno does sell the xdm but they are not ready to sell them. I just went there today and they can't sell it because they don't have the necessary parts to make it single shot.Skip them and try Valkyrie arms

Both guns are nice. If you have a smaller/larger than average hand than the xdm will be better because of the removable back strap. If you plan on using the gun for competition, the xdm also comes with a match grade barrel and a little better trigger out of the box compared to the xd. I have an xd and love it. If and when the xdm is on the CA Roster than i'll probably get one in 45.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

I think one of the biggest advantages of the XDm vs the XD is the extra capacity like the 9/40.

The XDm45 falls short of that because it has the same capacity of the standard XD45.

I have a XDm40 that is neutered to 10rds. It seems kind of a waste. I still love it, but it isn't necessarily worth the mark up.

I shot my Brothers XDM40 last year in Michigan. I thought it was very nice & I only have 1911's in centerfire. In fact, we set up a little IPSC course to try it. I beat him with his own gun, first time I tried it!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.
