One of the little pains in the fanny regarding the BHP is that fiddling about with the sear, hammer or safety often results in a little wiggle room when the safety is applied and the trigger pulled hard. I've had new BHPs which, with safety on and trigger pulled, the sear & hammer moved just a touch - not enough to be unsafe, but enough to be unsafe if someone worked on the gun and didn't replace parts. I've found that replacing a sear or hammer nearly always requires replacing the safety. I may have very bad luck in that department, but that's my experience.

I bought an extended safety from C & S AND their sear - the safety was too short to function properly with the C & S sear, in effect there was no "extra metal" (unlike the 1911 thumb) to remove and fit. I had to have a dot of steel dropped to the inside, left rear of the sear to build up enough material to then fit the safety.

Rather than remove the mag safety on a newer MkIII I used a lighter trigger return spring, mag safety spring and polished the heck out of the pad and front of the magazine. I think you can get a nearly as good pull doing that as disabling the mag safety.
