Why do people feel the need to bash HiPoints, anyway?

i Have a hi point. Its more of a cheap gun to go target shooting with. its not the best gun but it fires and its 100-150 dollars."Legitimate use of violence can only be that which is required in self-defense." Ron Paul

Just curious, do you own a Hi Point? Have you EVER shot one or even had a friend/acquaintance that owned one? Or is your drivel about reliability COMPLETELY unfounded?Originally posted by STAGE 2Right. People who care about reliability.
If you'd care to read the posts here, you'd see that the only reliability issue mentioned is with brand new, AFTERMARKET mags people bought. It's common for aftermarket parts to not work as reliably as original parts, and magazines (OEM or aftermarket) often have a break-in period before feeding reliably anyways. Far more people have issues with their aftermarket AK/AR mags than Hi Points, however these guns get less flak because they cost more, not because AR's are reliable (HAH).
My new c9 shot all 4 cheap brands of FMJ as well as the Remington Express and Golden Saber JHPs I brought to the first range trip. Zero failures to feed/fire/extract in 425 rounds, straight out of the box. I did no modifications, no polishing the feed ramp, no tweaking the lips on my mags... it functioned flawlessly out of the box after manually cycling a couple mags full of FMJ thru the action (probably didn't even need to do that).
Besides, if you don't like any aspect of how your pistol is performing, Hi Point will fix/replace it free of charge (and throw in a mag). How many companies back up their products like that?
Just because people have trouble with jams due to limpwristing this top-heavy blowback pistol or because of improper knowledge/maintenance of their firearm, doesn't mean it's the guns fault. I'm glad I didn't listen to internet armchair philosophers like yourself and instead relied upon OWNERS' testimony to make my decision about buying a C9, and I'd urge prospective buyers to listen to people who own or have shot these guns rather than people who spout misinfo they heard on the internet or at the gun range.
That being said, if you have $500 to spend then obviously there are better choices. But let's not bash a product simply due to it's inexpensive cost.Last edited by jr916; 12-28-2010, 6:20 PM.Comment

This thread is funny. I had a friend who was dirt cheap about everything. We used to go hunting and instead of trying the local flavors, he would insist McDonald's. He would argue with store clerks over a buck. Not many people liked him.
Anyways he bought this hi point telling me for $140 bucks you couldn't go wrong. He said its probably as good as any handgun out there. We took it out to the range and it jammed every mag. I was laughing the whole time. He was not pleased.

I have a hi-point C9 and its hasnt jammed on me. 300 or so rounds and the only problem I've had is when racking the slide after putting in a new loaded mag it didnt go all the way forward. All I had to do was push it with my hand and it was fine.Last edited by Nick1236; 12-30-2010, 9:57 AM.sigpic

But in all seriousness though, for the price I would buy one just for plinking purposes. I've seen some good deals on used ones here.
