g19 or g23

The idea of being able to swap barrels in the same gun and shoot two different calibers has always been a novelty to me. My thought when I bought my first .40 was that I could get a .357SIG with only a barrel swap. I have never done it partly because of the cost of .357SIG ammo. I guess I don't get it. With the cost of a barrel and magazines I would just buck up and buy another Glock made for the other caliber.

How often do you guys swap barrels?

my G23(generation3)is converted to shoot 9mm with a lonewolf conversion barrel....swap a lighter recoil spring and a G19 extractor is a must if you expect 100% function.

OP, the frames are essentially the same. You can swap slide assemblys all day, you can only swap barrel from .40 to 9mm. I have it. I initially regretted it and wished I went with the 9mm. Now that I have had more trigger time with the .40 I am very glad I got the 23. I am a far better shot with it now.

I personally would not trust a conversion barrel when my life is in danger. Just range time only.

How often do you guys swap barrels?

Whenever I got to the range with my G23, I usually bring my 9mm conversion barrel and .22LR slide assembly. They are both cheaper than .40 so usually end up buying .22LR and 9mm. Besides, my .40 mags are usually filled with self defense ammo that I don't want to waste on paper.

I was in the same quandry over the 19 and 23, so I bought both. I won't give either up. They are 2 different animals, but having both was the only way I was willing to sacrafice.

For those using a 23 w/ conversion barrel - would you trust the reliability of the conversion barrel with your life? Or is it just for target fun?

if my life were on the line, id prefer the 40.cal over the 9mm anyways so i wouldnt need the conversion barrel in that situation. on the other hand my lonewolf 40 to 9 conversion barrel has never given me any problems so if it came down to it from my experience i would trust my life with it. just not a fan of the shiny chrome barrel.

I'm looking to finally buy a Glock and was at the gun store tonight to discuss it with the guys there. I've pretty much decided on a G19. This discussion made me think about changing to a G23 and get another barrel but I figure if I fall in love with Glock I will just buy another one in .40S&W. I get "good guy" prices so a good barrel and magazines would be about halfway to another gun.
