    Grips for RIA 1911

I just purchased a Rock Island 1911 GI Model.

I find their wood grips to be a little boring and wanted to find out if anyone could suggest some better grips that I could use.

Check out WWW.midway.com they have more grips then you can shake a stick at. I like the flame ones from Hogue.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I have a dealer's account at Midway. I was curious about specific recommendations since there are so many available.

What are you going for? Looks, feel, ergonomics?

          I'm looking for 2 things:

1.) Coolness factor- I want to make sure these grips look really cool
2.) Feel- I want something that has some texture

Esmeralda's. I really like her mosiac checkering. The celtic stuff is pretty cool too (since that my lineage). Great handmade grips.

If you like texture I like the new VZ Operator II.

I have raasco grips on my kimber. They look good and the checkering is very "grippy" which I like. They are made locally too. http://raascogrips.com/ Mark

I think the VZ lineup is right up your alley.

I'd part with these for $35 plus 5 to ship them. I got them and they didn't fit my gun taste well. part of the bottom of the grip area was relieved to fit a wilson combat mag funnel.

I got some Navidrex ones for my RIA. I went with a double-diamond pattern made of "mahogany." The right side grip needed some relieving around the back of the mag release. They do look good and the checkering was excellent.

                      +1 on Esmerelda grips.

Love the andean alder myself, the ivory wood is great as well. The checkering is top notch.

These are the VZ recons in coyote brown. I am very pleased with them, aggressive texture and a classic look. Cant go wrong.

I run my tactical with plain black rubber hogues on it.
