My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with. -
*The M&P looks and feels better too. Your opinion -Everyone has a Glock. Be different. Buy an M&P. They also have a lifetime warranty.
The M&P looks and feels better too.
Glocks are like a concrete bench. Tough, ugly, uncomfortable, and functional.
M&P's are like a leather sofa. Strong, handsome, comfy, and everyone likes it.

So opinionated

aesthetics and "everyone has one" are not valid points for me to pick a tool. the whole idea of glocks being everywhere and so many different companies making accessories for glocks gives me comfort in that there are plentiful options to customize and experiment with the platform.
the two guns inquired about are quite different as well. i'm not an expert on the m&p but it appears to be more of a carry oriented pistol where the g34 is a target pistol. the sights and set up of the g34 is quite different than the m&p or a g17 even, so it depends on what your use will be with it.
both platforms have support but what is true is that glock has more. the one pistol that has more support is probably a 1911. if you want to build it up as a target gun there are multiple triggers, multiple magwells, multiple guide rods, and multiple slides for the glock you can choose from. that's aside from capacity options that may or may not be available to you. not to mention there's so many webstores and gun shops that will have factory glock spares should you want or need some.
the chance of someone at a match or the range having a spare or helping you with issues if the need arises will be better with a glock as well. sure the probability of that happening with either might be pretty slim, but it only takes that one time to ruin your match or range session.
my take on different pistols is that they're tools and you don't only have to have one. example - ask a mechanic how many different drivers he has. sure you might shoot one better than the other but thats not a reason to single one out. if you want to be proficient you gotta practice. we're human, we learn and adapt to things. it's no different than using a different keyboard, driver, drill, or whatever various tools your trade might include. use them enough and you will become proficient them all.
anyways just my 3cents. just something to think bout. good luck and let us know with what you decide. either way you should end up happy as they're both good machines.Originally posted by bubbapug1how to make a sig better...trade it in for a glock.Comment

If you dont know what to pick, just buy both. Life is too short, just buy both and enjoy. If you dont like it, sell it back.Any gun owner who does not support the NRA is a freeloader.

Sorry Highlander but Team Smith and Wesson shooting M&P 9's goes back and forth with Team Glock in the top production division.
I agree, but it's still an upstart. Let's see how they roll over the next few years... Julie and Phil are leading the way!!!!Comment

after getting dog piled you come back and kick him one last time for good measure? some consolation post!

btw, I voted for the G34.
I actually prefer the ergonomics of the M&P, but the abundance of spare parts, ease of maintenance, and "tunability' of the Glock won me over.Aloha snackbar!Comment

That was funny

"Whch is why they are a good starter gun. Which in turn makes them popular with First time gun owners"
Well the FBI just bought 3000 GLOCK 23's. They must be first time Gun Owners..hehehe
Go ahead...KISS MY GLOCK..!
(all in good fun...for more fun I will rent an M&P at the Range soon...
)
Keep smiling kids.

That's cuz you're not around to pick on anymore.
Honestly, though, the guy deserves it. Did you get a glimpse of his locked threads? In internet lexicon, he's not even a troll, he's weak sauce troll.

I love my M&P 45 so much I am looking to get an M&P9.
I shot a glock and an M&P. I shot the M&P better and it felt better to me. Made my choice easy. If possible shoot them both, at least hold them both. I didn't care for the ergonomics of the glock, but obviously there are millions of people that do. They are both great firearms. It comes down to personal preference and only you can make a decision about that.Last edited by orangeglo; 12-01-2010, 8:45 PM.Comment

The M&P9 Pro Series is a more in-line comparison with the Glock 34. Not on the roster, I know, but it can be had if you really wanted it.
Get what you shoot well. I assume that if you're considering a G34 it's primarily for target/competition purposes?S/FComment

Glock because of the long distance between sights are easy on the eyes. Good luck on your decision.sigpicComment

Easy, Glock 34...Everyone owns one for a reason! They are proven time after time. Not that the M&P isn't a good gun I would rather shoot steel or paper with a longer sight radius and use standard capacity mags!"This country has a mental health problem disguised as a gun problem, and a tyranny problem disguised as a security problem." -Joe RoganComment
