The Perfect Squib

Newbie question-
How would one know that happened and realize they shouldn't pull the trigger again? I assume there would be no "BANG" sound? Would the slide cycle?Guns, dogs and home alarms. Opponents are all of a sudden advocates once their personal space is violated.

I was always told you could identify a squib by a "pop and no kick." I saw this happen with a revolver and it was a night and day difference in the recoil. With a semiauto the action probably won't fully cycle.
I don't think there is a way to be certain of it. If something felt a little off or different about the last shot, play it safe and inspect the firearm thoroughly.RLTW

Very hard to tell that a squib has been fired. When I had mine it was a puff of smoke and the case stove piped. I cleared the stove pipe but it would not allow the next round to chamber all the way. After a few attempts to feed the next round I took my G17C apart and found the squib in my chamber
I was very lucky, had it gone any further my G17C would of been in pieces. I now pay more attention to stove pipes and or any other malfunctions related to me the shooter or my reloads.

Exactly what happened to me with my XD-45 during a live-fire training class during a rapidfire drill. If the stuck slug would have been another 1/4 into the barrel, I could have possibly chambered that next next round... and then kaboom! I felt VERY lucky and was shaken for quite a while.
The shooter must be in tune with their weapon, feel each round and pay attention the bullet impact. Something not feel right? No new hole in the center X on your target? Didn't hear that familiar ping from the steel out at 800 yards?
Stop shooting and examine your weapon.Comment
