A Marvel Unit 1 will pay for itself after around 1500 rounds fired vs factory .45acp ammunition. After that it will cost very little to go shooting; 250 round sessions are less than $10 using Federal 525 bulk pack.

Any in-spec 1911 government or commander frame will work provided you order the right conversion kit. The slide for the conversion kit is self contained and does not reciprocate on the pistol frame. The barrel is fixed and secured to a slide stop that comes with the conversion unit.

It's a top-quality piece of gear and worth the price imho. The accuracy is outstanding.

"What we get away with isn't usually the same as what's good for us"
"An extended slide stop is the second most useless part you can put on a 1911"

"While Ruger DA revolvers may be built like a tank, they have the aesthetics of one also,
although I suppose there are a few tanks which I owe an apology to for that remark"

Read some of the comments above about the Marvel Precision Unit 1. That is what is behind the accuracy of this pistol. My Marvel Precision Unit 1 came with a test target of .80 inches at 50 yards. It does not rely on the donor pistol frame to achieve this accuracy as normal frame to slide fit and normal barrel lock-up and bushing fit is not used.

The conversion unit was designed by Bob Marvel who builds 1911's with accuracy guarantees of 1.5" or less at 50 yards.
