Or simply had the threads machined off?

Or just buy the version of the kit without the threaded barrel:

and slap it on a 1911 receiver. Heck, maybe an RIA tactical might be a good donor for a dedicated pistol.

I made the mistake of looking at this link first and thought $500 was overpriced for the kit, I then looked at the price of the full firearm and passed out. Is it just me or is $1,000.00 alot for a 22lr?

But I must say it "looks nice"

✟ In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain."✟

btw: 1000 bucks, you might as well get a 5-7. it will go farther much faster, kill better, and id say is more fun. the wow factor is there too and if you can get 30 round mags outside cali, its on another level. even loading a 5-7 is fun.

for a 22, I just go with my walther p22. for 1000 bucks and a .22lr, It better have 30-60 round mags and it better be going full auto! well that or be a conversion with the original pistol included!

1000 bucks puts you in the neighborhood of some of the nice .22 wheel-guns... well not quite I guess... maybe $700-800 for a nice Model 617. SW model 41s are up there too tho... or look up a hi-standard... crazy prices! For competition shooters or collectors, $1000 on a .22 is not crazy at all.

sure, the 5-7 "kills" better... but you can't plink with it for 3-5 cents a shot... sometimes the money saved equates into fun too...

the OP linked a nice looking pistol... but if you want other options to tacticool-out a .22 pistol, look around for some of the ruger mk * pistols that people have customized with all manner of pac-lite and volquartsen uppers... some of them get pretty crazy when you cover them with rails, lights, and lasers... (and i'm sure the price starts to climb past $1000 in a hurry...)

I've got the Marvel kit and it came with a test target with a 0.744" 3-shot group at 50yd.

if your buying a 1000dollar .22lr, who cares about saving money to plink with? I use my hipoint to plink with. well that and my walther p22. both together wouldnt cost even a 1/3 of this gun haha.
