Beretta PX4
Try it before you buy the Glock then you'll know what you missed....
Ruger P95
Very underrated and most people turn a nose up due to the relatively low price.Using C Products 10 round magazines in my AR-15...just to be "safe"...Comment

PERSONALLY I hate the M&P trigger out of the box, just feels so.....vague. I'm sure it feels much better with a trigger job. XD felt good in my hands, BUT....
I would definately recommend looking into the FNP9 (the underdog). Was said the DA/SA trigger felt better than the Sig triggers by my instructor (Rudy at DFT down in Coarsegold, CA). The pistol feels GREAT in my hands. I recently took a 3day defensive handgun class and man, that gun can shoot!
If you like hammer fired, look into the FNP, if you like striker, wait for the FNS to clear the safe gun list.
my 2 cents.Comment

I like the m&p best. I say if you like the glock ergos and shoot well with it get a glock. Otherwise get an m&p.The capitalist economic model is fundamentally flawed. It is not self sustaining, and can only maintain itself with constant growth. Obviously infinite growth is impossible, so the question is not whether the economy will collapse, but when.
Get your guns, ammo, and food while the stores still stock them. Prepare yourself now, because when the meltdown comes it will be too late.Comment

1 more vote for "go shoot them both, then decide". Either is a quality pistol.I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!Comment

I like the stock trigger on a Glock over the stock trigger on an XD. I think the stock XD trigger is just gross. Lots of pre travel and long reset.
Are your going to customize either one?
Glock - you can do the trigger (buy a kit or polish the stock parts), change out the sights yourself. Vanek Triggers http://www.vanekcustom.com/ and Warren Tactical Carry sights http://www.warrentactical.com/index.htm are my favorites. The Dawson adjustable rear and FO front is also nice. Get a KKM barrel if you reload and shoot moly bullets.
XD - send it to the Springfield Custom Shop and be done with it. I highly recommend the Competition package. http://www.springfield-armory.com/custom.php
Good luck with your choice.Last edited by PLINK; 11-27-2010, 9:56 PM.Comment

Glock 34 is one ugly gun. Don't get me wrong I love Glocks but the 34...
not for me.

I have to agree here, My Father-in-law, has a sub compact M&P and there are a few things I didn't like, but the trigger out of the box was terrible, made all kinds of grinding noise, and was not smooth.
As far as FN goes...all this chatter about them is making me want one...Go with leather or go home
