    Maybe I missed something....

But lately I have been hearing about turning off roster handguns into single shot so that you can own them legally. What do you do after that? Is it legal to convert it back to "normal"? If so how are LEO types gonna know you did it legally?

As an example, if I wanted a Glock 17 Gen4 all I have to do is have it made single shot then convert back and thats it?

I'm just not sure how this works or the legality of the whole thing. Educate me.

    Thanks in advance.
    Anyone wanna go shooting?

That off roster gun is transferred the exact same way an AR or AK pistol is, 6 1/2" min barrel and 10 1/2" overall length with a sled mag.

Wow, that is painfully simple. If thats the case, why do people worry about handguns falling off the roster?

The approved handgun roster only regulates sales of new handguns from dealers to the general public.

The single shot exemption allows the sale of a handgun by a dealer that is not on the approved list.

Since California doesn't regulate possession since the roster only applies to sales you wouldn't get into trouble with anyone.

It is the same as getting an off-roster handgun through a PPT or interfamilial t

Some guns are nearly impossible to get parts for, you need spares of some parts to modify them into the single shot configuration.

There aren't conversions for all the different handguns out there. This guys are making them for a few popular guns. Also an off roster gun that costs $500 in a free state isn't going to cost $500 here by the time you go through the process to get it here. Mark

So the Gen4 Glocks are probably the most popular for this reason?

What guns would be near impossible to do a single shot conversion for?

Blow back pistols with the barrels mounted in the frames, rare guns that would need a special barrel manufactured for the transfer.
I should have clarified by saying economicly unfeasible for the average gun buyer. If somebody wants to drop 2K to get a 1K$ into CA we'll make it happen.

Yeah, if the barrel is mounted in the frame, it would be tough. And making a barrel is a bit of work so doing a one off would be fairly costly.
