45 caliber FNP pistols are not on CA DOJ list.

I've shot one. It was light. The grip wasn't as huge as a Glock 21. Overall pretty good impression.

Theyre not on the CA DOJ List but you can import it under a single shot exepmtion then convert it back to regular and your g2g

I would like to shoot it before buying it but that means you gotta go out of state and rent it , If it shoots anything like my FNP9 then it should b awesome

Is it a comfortable grip for a double stack .45 pistol?

Have you tried it with different backstraps?

How is the recoil in comparison to the Glock, HK and SIG?

I have one and it shoots as good, or better than most off the rack 1911. Very natural point, soft recoil, and good build quality.

I have a "Tactical" version, and it's pretty sweet.

More accurate than I am, mild recoil, decent trigger for what it is.
I'm a small dude, but I'm it points better for me with the arched backstrap. DA is a bit of a reach but I can do it; no problems with SA shots.
Simple takedown with no trigger pull necessary.

On the FN forums, there have been reports of some problems. The ambi slide stop doesn't work well as an ambi slide "release," the right-side safety/decocker has broken on some peoples' pistols, which will let the left-side lever fall out, which can be a problem. The pin which connects the trigger linkage has a tendancy to work its way out. That's the only problem I've faced, and that was after about 250 rounds. If I spent 5 seconds with a center punch I could fix it, but I'm lazy.
                This is my sig line.

The gun feels about the size of a CZ-97 when I have the slim backstrap installed. I don't use the big back strap so I don't know how that feels. As for the shape of the grip, it's more squarish than a M&P 45, at least it feels that way. It has an exposed hammer and a decocker/safety so you can carry it cocked or with the hammer down. The magazine release is operable from both sides so you can use you thumb or trigger finger to drop the magazine.
The single action trigger feels like my Hi-power, but I don't shoot it double action since it has a long heavy double action trigger. In double action, the trigger is not as bad as my Keltec P-11, but it feels heavier than a DA revolver. One thing I have problem with is the slide release. It's small and very close to the frame so your thumb doesn't get a lot of bite on it when you release the slide, but this might be just an issue of practice. The slide release is also operable from both sides like the magazine release, but mine operates reliably on the left side but the right side doesn't work as well. That's because the left side of the slide release engages the slide before the right side does. It might only need a small adjustment, but I would have expected a better fitment from FN. It's a minor thing that won't affect me because I'm right handed. As for recoil, it feels like a 1911 when it shoots, but I'm no expert on 1911's, just comparing it to my RIA.

I bought the one that comes with one 15-rd and two 10-rd magazines and the accessories from CDNN. It came with some Bladetech accessories- holster, paddle, magazine holder. I paid $552 for mine, then got an email today from CDNN where they are selling it for $530 this weekend. Get one if you can.

The grip is not bad, but I don't much like polymer guns in general. They tend to have those weird protrusions molded onto the grip to enhance the...grip. I did not try different back straps.

The recoil wasn't bad. It's comparable to, or even lighter, than my P220.

The grip is big, just not as big as a Glock 21.

I've also shot a USP 45 long time ago. I would say the FNP 45 is more like a USP 45 than a Glock 21.

First off its a big handgun you are not going to be caring it in shorts and a t-shirt. But for a full size big bore gun that holds a whopping 15+1 rounds of .230g .45 hp flying ashtrays its hard to beat for the cost.

It has alot of nice features, ambi thumb safety/decocker, slide release, mag release. Very nice three dot sights and the assc. rail. The single action trigger is very nice but the double action is very heavy. I use mine only single action with the thumb safety engaged. It is a very accurate gun and the recoil is very tame. The interchangeable back strap is easy to use and well thought out.

My opinion it is the best of the plastic .45acp. guns.

Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

Too bad most of us can't just go buy one, I would if it were possible.

OTOH I currently have an M&P 45 on layaway, I think the M&P is ugly but after checking one out at the shop and a little research I just had to go for one.

You didn't go wrong with choosing the M&P45. I think the grip of the M&P is more comfortable than the FNP45. The sides of the FNP's grip are flat, with small bumps to increase friction, while the M&P is contoured. Of course, for me this is outweighed by the FNP having an exposed hammer, manual safety and decocking lever, and 15-round capacity.

i have not seen this in most local stores.
i have not experienced any issues on my slide stop but maybe because i don't use it as a slide release.
great 15 round mag but harder to modify to a 10 rounder compared to a xdm.
also the grip diameter is smaller compared to a glock 21sf or a usp.
