on mine, i had a trigger job done. i also had the edges on the back of the slide rounded off and had some trijicons put on it. had to send the slide off to have the front sight installed though. turned out nice.

How much better was the trigger after the work was done, and what did it change?

The D Spring is the hammer spring out of a 92D. Lightens the trigger (if I remember, from around 10lb to 8lb DA, and 5.5lb to 4.4lb SA) and makes it nice and smooth. I have the D-Spring on both my Berettas.

Change the hammer out for an Elite hammer, change the plastic guide rod (if it has it) to a metal rod.

            EDIT: also, a butt-load of info on the Beretta 92 -- http://www.berettaforum.net/vb/faq.php

and just a couple of cases of ammo...

shoot the crap out of it and then take a class like a Thunder Ranch handgun class...
                great gun...have fun

                  One of the best.

                  D-spring, yes.

I recently put some Hogue grips on my 92FS. I have shot about 600 rounds through it since and I am probably putting the stock ones back on (thinner).

The 92FS is one of my all time favorite pistols, my most accurate long shooting 9mm.

Keep the locking block and plunger clean and lubed.

pretty cheap fixes and easy to do yourself is a 92d spring or wolf mainspring equivalent, skeletal hammer and wolf lighter trigger spring kit... you will most likely get light strikes os either the 92d/ skeletal hammer or the 92d/wolf trigger spring kit. if it has the plastic trigger you may need to do some cutting for the wolf trigger setup...

Not to thread jack here, but would mods for the 92fs be interchangeable for the older 80's 92f?

I replaced the the mainspring with the "D", polished the internals, swapped out the trigger for a steel one with a trigger stop, dressed up the hammer and sear contact points and replaced the guide rod with a polished SS one.
Trigger breaks right around 4.5 lbs but is very clean. I could get it lighter with more work on the sear angles, but I'm happy with where it is.

                            Same mods would work.
