I would opt for the Glock over the springfield. With that being said I am partial to Glocks and my opinion is biased.

If you do opt for the G35 and you don't need a .40 cal you might want to look at a G34 9mm or even a G17 in 9mm. Cheaper to shoot although the G35 will serve you fine.

Both are nice, but I'd go with the G35. Simplicity and durability.

I would opt for the G35. The long barrel XDs are awesome, but are a full weight slide and they feel a little front heavy for me. The G35 has a section of slide cut out of the top to maintain a nearly identical balance to the G22. XD is more accurate IMHO, but the G35 wields better IMHO.

XD 40 Tactical is what I went with for myself. Yes I have shot both and many others prior to buying the XD tac. I haven't looked back since. I love my XDs, the Glock just didn't feel right in my hands. Like others have said go to a range and rent a few different pistols and see which one fits your hand better and shoots better for yourself. When it all comes down to it, it doesn't matter what we say, its what fits you the best.

Both are great. The xd feels better in my hand. The glock will have a better resale value. The glock is cheaper to upgrade if you choose to.
You'll be happy with either but the smart decision is the glock IMO.
