    Nightsights help

I'm looking to get a set of nightsights for my Beretta PX4, but my first problem is deciding between Trijicon and Meprolights. I'm not too worried about the money issue (I know Mepros are cheaper). I like the crisp look of the Trijicons especially during day, but it seems like the Meprolights might be better at night.

Another issue I'm encountering is having a different color front sight. I'm fond of shooting with two colored sights since it makes it that much quicker for me to obtain my sights correctly. I've seen that Trijicon sells sets of dual colors, but I do not see Meprolights offering the same thing. Does anyone know if they sell front and rear sights separately and in different colors and where? I'm having trouble finding them being sold separately. Thanks

Both Meprolights and Trijicons are excellent night sights. I personally prefer Meprolights and have them on all my guns because they are brighter than Trijicons even though they are less expensive. I have a couple guns with Meprolights that are just over 10 years old and while they are not as bright as new ones, they still glow decent in low light and darkness. I used to have a gun with Trijicons and the Meprolights were significantly brighter.

Meprolight does make different color sights for front and back. I have a G27 with a green front sight and yellow rear sight. I'm not sure if you can buy them like that everywhere, but I had mine installed like that from Glockmeister by request when I got the gun. The contrast is ok, but I usually just stick to all green because they are the brightest. I believe Meprolights are available in green, yellow and amber colors. They might have more available but those are the 3 colors that I know of.

Thanks. I was sort of leaning towards meprolights. I've had a few other guns, a .22 and an air-rifle that had contrasting colored fiber optics sights that I liked a lot but if you're saying the other colors aren't as bright then I'm sure I'd be fine with just the green. I thought I read somewhere that the front sight is brighter in order to help distinguish between front and back. Is that true? Thanks.

I have Trijicons on my Glock G19. I've checked them out side by side and found the Trijicons sharper than the Mepros.

Thats what I've noticed. Mepros seem bigger, but more fuzzy. I prefer Trijicons.

Man. Back and forth. How difficult are these to install? I have no special tools so I'll probably be taking it to a gunsmith. What's the going rate at installing these?

I just went through the same dilemma as you: trying to decide between the Mepro's and Trijicon for my G19.

In the end, I went with the Trijicons since they look more crisp, and because this is my only gun for the time being, it's also my range gun. But the Mepros are a bit brighter yet fuzzier.

It's really a toss up. Why can't someone make brighter ones that are crisp, IDK.

Also, the store I bought them from installed them for free.

One thing that would potentially bug me about the Meprolights is that they are fuzzier. I wear contacts but at night I have an old pair of glasses on the nightstand. Since they're old glasses they don't make things as sharp as they should be but I can still see well enough to operate. I'd feel like fuzzy sights could bug me in that situation. Man this is tough. I'm gonna have to stop by my local store and see what they have, although they probably only have them for glocks.

i have always used Trijicon because they are sharp and crisp at night.

Plus 1 for the trijicons. As a matter of fact, I am going to be in the market for a set for my Gubment 1911

You can't go wrong with either brand of sights. It doesn't matter if other people prefer Mepros or Trijicons, it's what works for you. Either sight will work just fine. It's the same thing debating which brand of gun is the best, you will never get a definite answer because everyone has their own opinion. To me, Meprolights have bigger dots than Trijicons. I have never had the thought that they were "fuzzier". They just look like bigger dots than Trijicons. If I had only one gun and it had Trijicons on it, I would be just fine with that as well. When it comes down to it, my preference is Meprolights. Others have the preference of Trijicons. Just pick one and you won't be sorry either way, they are both good. Either are better than stock sights.

I have Trijicons in my USPc and Meps in my P30. They both seem equally bright but I prefer the crisp lamps in the Trijicons.

I stick to the green sights only, because the way the sights work, green is the brighest and lasts twice as long as any other color. As long as you know what a sight picture looks like and you are familiar with your pistol, two-tone sights offer no real benefit.

The meprolights on my kimber are crazy bright. I think I could use them to find my keys in the dark. I like them. They aren't a perfectly delineated circle(ie they're fuzzy), but I have a feeling when I really need them, it wont matter.

Which ones come with white rings around the tritium tube? Get those IMO. I also like yellow rear and green front.
