Good start to the OP! Be safe and read and reread the manuals, if you have at least half a brain you will enjoy it and learn to appriciate it very much! With practice you can produce a round that will be better in your gun that factory ammo! GL and enjoy!

you don't need much room. here's my little setup. i just had to bolt the table to the wall so i get more leverage.

OP, get a digital scale. it saves A LOT of time and frustration.

              Welcome to the fold.

              Now start casting.

I just cast up some .460 bullets for a 45-70 and loaded up a couple different loads for a new Guide Gun. Can't wait to toss 'em downrange.

I almost bought a box to go with the rifle, but $50 for a box of 20 and that was low power (for a 45-70) trapdoor loads! Forget about the "magnums" at $90+ !

Very nice. That was my f-u to californias dumb law as well. Like you I started with 45 but went single stage.

To answer a couple questions, initial cost for me was around 500. I can pump out approx 50 rounds in an hour with my single stage. I'm assuming progressive and turret presses can put out around 250 or so in an hour. If I'm wrong, someone who has one chime in and correct me.

for me i'm pushing out about 3-400 per hour. but then again, my initial cost was about $750. my table was pretty much free because i pieced together the table from a pallet and scrap metal.

I'm also a member of this F___ 962 club. I've got an old rockchucker, and dies for all but 1 of my mainly used rounds. So far i've got a crap load of brass prepped (tumbled sized, deprimed, trimmed, deburred) for .30-06 and .30-30. I'll be loading up some .30-30 soon, follwed by .30-06. As soon as I find a bullet that I want to use with it for a reasonable price.

I've also noticed that my local bass pro has a little bit more in the way of reloading inventory than they did a year ago. They seem to know the way the wind is blowing.

I only hope that the OOIDA V. Lindley case moves along smoothly, and reloading remains a cost-saving hobby, not an access-based necessity.

Nice rig. I'll join the progressive club eventually (got my singlestage stuff for nothing when my dad looted a couple old guy's garage sales). I look forward to reloading 9mm and other pistol rounds in mass quantities.

As far as the digital scales, a friend of mine is eyeballing a nice automatic feeding powder measure that dumps into the scale for loads accurate to .1 gr every time without breaking out the trickler. I'm kinda jealous.

I bought a 550b this year, but that was because I'm 24 and it'll last me a lifetime so might as well do it right the first time. Nobody say reloading saves money, this setup is costing me a small fortune.

                              Very nice setup Racky.

I reloaded when I was a kid, before I was even old enough to buy a gun and since then I haven't reloaded at all. Still have a turret press, tumbler, digital scale, lots of dies, etc but have stupidly enough just been buying all my ammo.

If I got back into it I would definitely want a progressive press like you have.

Grafs is waiving HazMat fee on 8lbs and above of powder, mix & match 1 lb'ers is OK. Their standard shipping fee on "regular stuff" is about $5.00 IIRC.
