For the original poster - Get an Uplula magazine loader and toss the stock one from SA.

The tactical model is easier to rack than the service so your wife might appreciate that choice. My wife can't rack the service, but can rack the tactical.

There are two problems with an XD. First is the striker retaining roll pin. Go over to the XD talk forum and do a search on that issue. The do break on occasion, have a spare on hand. I've got 4 XD's and have not had the problem, but I did get a bunch of pins. Do use snap caps for dry firing practice. It took years for Springfield to admit that the pins won't last as long if you do a lot of dry firing without snap caps.

Second problem - The sights are dang near impossible to get out. Switching to aftermarket sights is real hard for the owner or corner gunsmith. Best to send it to experts.

Have fun with it, be safe with it and put on the flame resistant underwear for protection from from the Glock/Sig/MP crowds.

I would say that crossbreed is going to be the nicest holster out there for you. Here they are: http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/

This is the one you want and its a really nice setup.

D'oh, I just saw you're looking for OWB holsters. Either way I'll leave it and if you ever need an IWB holster, you can go that route.

          OWB for IDPA:

This is the Tucker Leather site showing the Silent Thunder Champion holster.
It's pricey. The holster is made by Garrett Industires.

I don't have the Champion, do have the Silent Thunder for a 1911. Kydex with leather lining.

Thanks for the info, sir. Good to know about the roll pins and the sights

You don't have to worry about me and snap caps though. I have a drawer full and I never "leave home without um"

Oh, and old4eyes, thanks for mentioning my wife racking the slide. It IS noticablely easier to rack and was a selling point i failed to mention in my first post.

Good for other fellas to know, if they're wondering if they're cowgirls would enjoy this piece more than something else
