    XD9 Tactical...

After about a year of conversations, range-time, thinking, wavering, flip-flopping, spec-checking, ogling, fondling (the guns, guys, c'mon..) the XD9 tactical is what I've decided will fill the bill.

I'm really impressed with the design, and really haven't found anything that feels better in my hands.

Also very important is the fact that I'm a southpaw with large hands (XL work gloves) and my wife, conversely, is a righty with smaller hands (S-M work gloves) Amazingly this gun feels and shoots VERY good for both of us.

I was committed from the get-go to finding something that we both could use, and the flat shooting, low-recoil 5" model has been a pleasure to shoot.

    Specifics that I like:

    -great ergo's for us
-great sights (we've grown to love the 6 o'clock style)
-Grip/frame doesn't get hot during long range sessions
-2 included mags are very high quality
    -comes with loading tool
-able to have laser and/or light mounted
-Uses reletively cheap/common ammo with lots of diff. loadings
-No manual safeties to get in the way of stress shots (Like when I am screaming like a schoolgirl as I am attacked by a zombie coyote on our property)

I did consider many others: Glock, Sigma, M&P, SR9, Sig, 1911 etc., but this one is simply the gun for us...

One question. I'll be looking for a good left-handed OWB holster for IDPA matches as well as carry while I'm working out on our land. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

p.s. I'll post up pics when it gets out of jail!

The XD has awesome ergos that is for sure and a great choice!. Its nice that it also fits large hands. I was thinking that maybe it was a smaller hands gun.

If you are going to use the holster for both IDPA and outdoors work, you might look at the Comp-Tac belt holster. I'm a fan of Blade-Tech's Stingray holster for IDPA, but it has been asserted that the holster can be torn off the belt backpiece with a moderate amount of force. This is a non-issue for competition, but could be a huge issue in the outdoors.

Never have actually seen this, but the Comp-Tac's design fundamentally prevents this since the holster and belt loops are the same piece of kydex.

I did that a couple of years ago and they didn't want me to send in the right hand holster.

Congrats on the purchase. Can't wait to see the pics. I figure you can't go wrong with some blackhawk owb holster. Good luck on your search.

NO !!! You should have bought a Glock because everyone knows Glock > everything else right ??? nice pickup.. I would have went with an XD but I was soo hard headed on getting a Glock to say I owned one I bought a G22 but I love it.. I think Glock, XD, m&p are all = on par and you cannot go wrong with either of those three choices, just comes down to personal preference/comfort.

Nice choice. Before you start shooting get a houge grip.

I got long fingers and the extra grippyness helps during IDPA - IPSC matches
