I have a Beretta 170mm Competition Kit like the one in this generic picture (not mine) that uses a threaded barrel to lock the forward weight on:

Now. I know it is legal to *own* the threaded barrel. The question is, would it be legal if I were to install it on an upper, but NOT attach that upper to a lower? Basically, it would just be storing the completed slide with the competition kit barrel installed, but not attached to anything below (and locked in its own case).
My assumption is it is fine, as the completed upper itself is not capable of accepting detachable magazines... I just want to make sure I seem to be in there right here.
