      Yes.

The Blackhawk is actually one of the strongest 357 mags out there. Keep it clean and a little lube in the center of the cylinder and you great grand child will enjoy it.

Yeah...most are actually built on a 44Magnum-class frame, damn near unkillable. Those built on the "smaller" frame are still tougher than a 686 or Ruger GP100.

But ALL 357Magnum guns can shoot 38Spl. That's part of the design of the 357 cartridge .

Ruger makes a 9mm cyl for the Blackhawk so it can shoot 357,38 special and 9mm.

If it says .357 Magnum on the revolver, it will shoot .38 Specials, end of story.

Only exception, sometimes, are lever action rifles in .357 Magnum. They can be finicky sometimes about cycling the shorter ammo, other times they can be great. Seems to vary from gun to gun and bullet type to bullet type.

If you shoot a lot of .38 Special and don't clean the gun well it may be difficult to load .357 afterward. The end of the chambers build up crud over time that matches the length of the .38 and is just a smidge short for the .357.

I've never had this problem with my Blackhawk but I don't shoot a lot of .38 Special either.
