    VZ Operator grips

Sorry if this has been discussed to death but I didn't find anything specific when searching.

I am looking for grips to replace the cheap rubber panels on my Springfield Loaded Champion Lightweight. I think I have settled on VZ Operators. Can anyone give me some advice as to whether I should get them in G10 (supposedly more aggressive/rougher) or in paper Micarta (smoother)?

The gun will be a CCW gun and will no doubt lots of range use too.

Thanks in advance and if anyone has pictures of these grips on a black and OD green 1911 I'd appreciate it.

I have VZ Operators on full sized 1911's. It's pretty aggressive. Maybe too aggressive for concealed carry.

Check out the VZ ETC's. They're made of G10, and they give the best balance for grip where you need it and smoothness for concealed carry. I use these on a Colt Mustang Pocketlite.

I wouldn't select anything less than G10 or Carbon Fiber composite for durability and strength. They won't break or crack like plastic or wood.

I agree. The VZ Operators are very agressive and probably not the best grips for a CCW.

I have a set of VZ operators and love them. I didn't think they where as rough as others have said I kinda like the feel. Any how worse case if you don't like them they sell like hot cakes used. I like show and tell too

Thanks for the feedback and as always, gun pr0n is always welcomed. It is so difficult to decide when there is no way to feel them all. Heck, I have read that the only place around that is an authorized VZ dealer is Retting's in Culver City and I'm nowhere near there. I should have paid more attention at the Phoenix gun show last month but I didn't have a 1911 way back then.

Beemaze: Great color combo selections for your VZ grips!

Another couple nice 1911 shots. Are those Gatorbacks? The G10s in the first photos don't look too rough.

I was thinking about getting the Operators but decided to get the Aliens instead. I might just buy the Operators though just to have another set.

Yup, those are the Gator Backs... They're a middle-of-the-road feel between aggressive and non-aggressive.

Darn it! I was there a few weeks ago. I wasn't in the market for 1911 grips then so I could very well have passed them over.

Do you think they are too aggressive for IWB/CCW? I like the looks and the design of the Operators but don't want to wind up losing skin on my side or wearing holes in shirts.
