    I agree... shoot one first! I was set on getting a 1911 till I shot one at the range (granted it was the Springfield Base Stainless model, they have a Wilson CQB that I plan on renting to try out.) I know 1911's are legendary & everyone should have one, I'm sure I'll have one at some point, but after being use to my Sig P226 .40s&w for the past 12+ years, the 1911 just didn't fit my hand as comfortably as my Sig. Shoot it before you buy it!
